 Robot Project

Task 1  - Make sure that your robot is built to specifications.   These robots were built the by former AI students who may or may not have done this correctly.  Test the robot as outlined in the Parallax instructions.  http://learn.parallax.com/node/192 Demonstrate that you have a robot that can move relatively straight as per the project instructions.

Use the robot chapter in your text and your class notes to answer the following questions.   (Only hand in one set of answers per robot team)

  1. Describe your robot's environment.
  2. What type of "real world" tasks might a robot like the one you've built be good for?
  3. What types of effectors does your robot have and what are they used for?
  4. How many actuators does your robot have?  Describe your robot's actuators.
  5. How many degrees of freedom does your robot have? Explain your answer
  6. What is a nonholonomic robot?  What is a holonomic robot?  Which one of these describes your robot?
  7. Is your robot statically stable or dynamically stable?  Why?
  8. Our robots have very simplistic sensors.  Describe the sensors that a current model of an autonomous vehicle uses to follow a road.
  9. What types of algorithms might these use?
