    A1.  Investigate the behavior of the following ICs. Be sure to analyze each

    A2.  Investigate the behavior of the 7404 inverter and the 7486 exclusive

         or IC.

 

 

    A3.  The 7486 XOR IC can be used as a controllable inverter, i.e., when

         the control input, C, is 0 the output is the second input, x.  When

         the control input is 1, the output is x . Verify the above property.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

    B1.                   Universality of the NAND gate.

 

         Using a single 7400 IC, realize a circuit that produces a) an inverter,

         b) 2-input AND,        c) 2-input OR,           d) 2-input NOR

         and  e) 2-input XOR (Ed 3, Fig 3-32 or Ed 2, Fig 4-21 Text).

 

 

 

 

 

 

    C.   Verify that the output of the 7475 bistable latch follows the input as

         long as the enable is asserted.  Compare this behavior with that of the

         7474 D-Type positive edge triggered flip-flop. The 7474 FF also has

         SET* and CLEAR*  inputs. If these inputs are not to be used, they should

         be tied high.  Observe the output as you vary these inputs according

         to the function table.  What happens if both inputs are simultaneously

         asserted?
